Hometown Smiles

Hometown Smiles is a part of More Smiles Wisconsin and has programs in Verona, WI, and La Crosse, WI, to assure that any student who needs dental care gets it, regardless of their ability to pay. The program serves kids who do not currently have a dentist, particularly students receiving BadgerCare or without insurance.

AmeriCorps VISTA

The contributions of AmeriCorps VISTA members are invaluable, not only in terms of the immediate impact on the communities they serve but also in the professional growth and networking opportunities they provide. By engaging directly with community members and stakeholders, VISTA members develop a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by low-income populations and become adept at creating sustainable solutions to address these issues. Wisconsin Dental Pain Protocol

We are a participating provider in the Wisconsin Dental Pain Protocol (WDPP). The WDPP focuses on evidence-based diagnosis, treatment, and care management of oral pain and infection, ensuring the highest standard of care while optimizing ED/UCC staff time and resources. Additionally, the WDPP establishes partnerships among providers, including a collaboration with More Smiles Wisconsin, which serves as a referral site and coordinates care for the individuals seen in Madison's ED/UCCs who are referred to our clinic. The purpose of the WDPP is two-fold: to reduce emergency/hospital visits for oral pain and to make positive impact on the national opioid epidemic.

Youth Apprentice Program

In partnership with Waunakee High School and the Department of Workforce Development, More Smiles Wisconsin proudly employs Youth Apprentices (YAs) who serve as Dental Assistants. YA is a one- or two-year program that gives juniors and seniors in high school the chance to explore a career in their area of interest. Learn more about the Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship program here.

Stacy Nehmer, Exec Director and youth student apprentice
“My experience as a Dental Assistant Youth Apprentice at More Smiles has been great. After coming in with little to no knowledge of dentistry, I have learned so much, and I have gained so many new skills."
