Open Call for Board Members

More Smiles Wisconsin (MSW) is actively seeking new board members who are eager to serve others and support the organization's mission. Qualified individuals should be prepared to participate in quarterly meetings and contribute to a modest level of fundraising efforts. Time commitment is minimal, with as little as 6 hours per year for general members and potentially up to 10 for financial or marketing positions. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about MSW's purpose and committed to engaging beyond formal board meetings, including community involvement and advocacy.

 

Desired Qualifications

MSW values candidates with backgrounds in finance, marketing, communications, or strong community relationships. These skills and networks are especially beneficial for advancing the organization's goals and outreach. We are also interested in someone with ‘lived experience’ to bring to the table a perspective of what people in poverty struggle with on a daily/monthly/yearly basis.

MSW is a respected nonprofit that has provided dental care to low-income and Medicaid-insured individuals for over 15 years. In recent years, the organization has expanded to include behavioral health programming. The core mission of MSW is to deliver high-quality community care through health services, education, resources, and outreach.

Prospective board members should demonstrate integrity, a collaborative spirit, and a true dedication to community impact. Serving on the MSW board offers leaders the chance to broaden their influence, connect with compassionate peers, and support initiatives that improve community well-being. While prior board experience is welcome, it is not a requirement; MSW invites diverse perspectives and fresh voices to join the team. We prefer individuals who are familiar with the Madison area and who are able to attend the majority of meetings in person.
