More Smiles Wisconsin awarded Wisconsin Department of Health’s Dental Clinics – Increasing Access to Care grant.
Madison, July 17, 2017 – More Smiles Wisconsin, a Madison-based non-profit, was recently selected as one of the safety net dental clinics in Wisconsin to be awarded the “Dental Clinics – Increasing Access to Care” grant. More Smiles Wisconsin’s Executive Director worked on this grant proposal to secure funds for More Smiles Wisconsin’s expansion. By the end of 2017, More Smiles Wisconsin anticipates serving 1,500 patients; in 2018, over 3,000 patients.
“I was so excited when I learned the news. More Smiles Wisconsin continues to grow and within 2017, we will have added a new clinic in Fitchburg with the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County. Our organization also has paid part-time dentists and hygienists at our Salvation Army Clinic, which has helped increase our capacity to help more people in need,” said Henderson.
More Smiles Wisconsin recently announced its new vision to serve South Central Wisconsin. The organization’s leadership has intentions of continuing its growth and serving the areas of most unmet need in Wisconsin. According to public health research, it’s estimated that 1 in 3 Wisconsinites do not regularly visit a dentist. With this grant and other funding, More Smiles Wisconsin wants to change that.
